Jane’s Walk Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest

Jane’s Walk James Bay invites artists of all ages and skill levels to create a vibrant, temporary works of chalk art during our inaugural Jane’s Walk Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest. This community event brings together creativity, colour, and friendly competition for a day of outdoor art-making. Bring your own chalk or stop by at For Good Measure to pick some up on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. While you’re welcome to chalk it up just for fun, if you want to enter the contest for prizes, please see below.
Instructions, rules and guidelines
- The contest runs from 11:00 am on Saturday, May 2 and ends on Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 pm.
- You need to sign up for the contest and submit a photo of your artwork to be considered.
- Your design must only include washable chalk. Any non-chalk props or items used in the artwork will disqualify the artwork.
- No paint, crayon, ink or other non-washable or permanent products permitted.
- Some chalk may be crushed and diluted in water to assist the artist.
- No Spray Chalk or Marking Chalk may be used.
- All artwork needs to be appropriate for family viewing.
- When your design is complete, take a photo of it with your phone and upload it using the Photo Submission form below.
- Winners who are not present the finale will be notified by phone on May 3
- The winning submissions will also be posted on this website and social media on Monday, May 4.

Jane’s Walk & Roll With Capital Bike
Jane Jacobs was a passionate advocate for livable, people-friendly cities—and a dedicated cyclist who never owned a car. In that spirit, Capital Bike is hosting a fun, family-friendly Bike Obstacle Course as part of the Jane’s Walk & Roll event—and we need four volunteers 16+ years and up to help bring it to life.

Sign up to volunteer for one or more 2.5 hour shifts during the festival and you’ll be eligible to enter the draw for this bike donated by Capital Bike and the helmet donated by Pedego Bikes. You’ll earn a ticket for the draw for each shift you work on the Jane’s Walk & Roll with Capital Bike event or any other event you prefer. Don’t miss your chance to win!\
All you need to do for a chance to win this bike & helmet is to register & volunteer for this or any other festival event for a 2.5 hour shift.

You’ll need to be 16 years and up, be a registered volunteer and check in and out of your shift(s) at our booth at For Good Measure at 579 Niagara Street to be eligible.
The draw for the winning ticket will take place at For God Measure on Sunday, May 3n at 6:00 pm.
You do not need to be there to win if your number is called but you will need the winning ticket and only volunteers are eligible, not even the volunteer walk leaders.
